Introduction
Mediation is now well established as an alternative means of dispute resolution where an independent and impartial facilitator assists and guides parties towards a mutually acceptable outcome. It is positively encouraged by the courts and unreasonable failure to consider mediation may result in an adverse costs order being made.Richard Bowman retired as a judge in 2004 to become a full time mediator. He is accredited as a mediator by two of the major mediation organisations. He lectures here and abroad on mediation.
Richard brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the process of mediation and dispute resolution. His appointments as mediator range from disputes in the entertainment industry to partnership and property differences. A recent appointment was the successful mediation (at the instance of a court in the United States) of a multi-jurisdictional dispute.
